Love Birds

I know that Valentine's Day is over and I will soon begin on my St Patrick's Day freebies ......

BUT ......

I want to do just one more Valentine's freebie.

Here is my preview:

You can download it at:

I want to send a special thanks out to Secondlina of
Deviant Art

the "Love Birds" are
her creation

And I think their adorable.
I sure would want my first love to be dressed like him ... hee, hee

I have included the freebie two different ways.
One with the element and one just words.

As always, thank you for stopping by my blog.  I know that I have been somewhat subdued this month, but with very good reasons.  I continue to pray daily for my friend, Barbara.  And, wish so much that I was in Texas to hug her as she needs it.  I still continue to have so many feelings of helplessness and disbelief.

Approximately one week ago I received some of what I call "hate mail" from two people; which I will not leave their names over a layout I'd posted.  I have since removed that layout.  They unfortunately shook me right down to my core.  I have never received these kind of words from anyone, especially someone I don't know.  They were hateful and cruel.  It made me question, if I even wanted to continue with this blog.  And, it completely crushed my ability to create anything.

It is only due to my regulars that have left such kind words that I will try to continue.  This is hard because I just want to "shut the door", and go back to the way my blog was before ... just for me.  So, please bare with me, because the "words aren't really there right now".  And, I am working so hard to just do anything on this blog.

I am from hard stock, though .... even though I just couldn't do that to anyone else because it is not my nature, I want to get right up .... shout on the top of my lungs and tell those "two people" you didn't win.  So, even though it is hard for me right now .... I WILL CONTINUE TO TRY TO GET MY FREEBIES OUT TO MY FRIENDS.  They may never see this entry .... but I don't care.  I just won't be bullied.

And, again please do keep those kind comments coming ... I think that is the only thing that will help me over this obstacle.

Lots of love, Sue

Valentine's Day

Hi Guys,

One of the fun things about my special "love fests" .....

Is my putting on my thinking cap and trying to come up with a new and unique way of telling my special guy how important he is to me.

This year, I was really going into panic mode because as of Tuesday morning I just wasn't coming up with anything new and different.

My spirits have been so much on a roller coaster these past couple of weeks, that this was really hard.    And, I feel like for the past two week I keep having this reoccuring thought.  What will I do if something happens to John?

Barbara and Richard only reenforce how precious life is.

Well, on Tuesday ... I'd had enough.  It was time for happy thoughts and grand ideas.  Afterall, that is what my sweetheart, honey bunch, cutie-pie would expect.

And, I just can never let him down ......

I went out looking for ideas at the stores and GOT NO WHERE!!!  I went online and GOT NO WHERE!!!  I told my brain to start working and GOT NO WHERE!!!

Now, that is not good !!!!

Low and behold ....

I started to zero in on what makes my man special.  What does he like?  What are his hobbies?  What are his dreams?

And, I went from there ......

And, then I had this brilliant idea .....
HE LOVES TRAINS
So, here through photographs was  my Valentine's Day gift to him.

I hope you enjoy my adventure along with us.

I took him on a
MAKE- BELIEVE
vintage train ride

As the engine whistles and smoke passes our
window, we travelled together back to the
Golden Age of Travel of the 1920's.

Served with his very own luxury chocolates and chocolate chip cookie.
And ...
my Keepsake of his Valentine's Card to me
on Febuary 14, 2012.
Framed Febuary 14, 2013.

This time a rose for my honey
And, I just let cupid take care of the rest !!!!

The clink of crystal glasses will soon be filled
with chocolate milk

As we watched on the huge widescreen television
our very own private showing of
SUITS

the train makes its way
through the landscape green of Ireland.

Now, this is my make-believe trip everyone .....

Ireland, the Isle of Green
is the home of family history of the
BRISLAN NAME
this romance of rails
of authentic culture
speaks softly to the heart of
My Irishman

With springtime whispering to his senses
Memorable sounds of
Celtic Music played softly in our ears
 we talked of

THIS MAKE BELIEVE

trip to Ireland
if only in our dreams

Enjoying
HIS
delicious five-course dinner

of ALL HIS  favorites ...
oreo cookies with hearts, cinnamin rolls,
chocolate caramel candies
bacon and milk
(unfortunately served upstairs)
my man wouldn't eat by the fireplace in our real basement.

And he's thinking all the while ....
I'M NOT SHARING MY OREOS

Our remarkable train travel ...
wasn't I lucky to get to share it with this cute little boy !!!!
(John @ age ten years)

"After all this time ....
.... I've still got the biggest crush on you."

And, my freebie today is ....

You can download it at:

Hoping that everyone had the best Valentine's Day yesterday ......

A hug

I have just discovered that I didn't complete my 2011 Christmas Photobook, so needless to say, now I have a fresh idea for it.

I am going to do it around the poem "Twas The Night Before Christmas" by Clement Clarke Moore.
This has always, always been one of my own childhood beloved poems.  I can remember my mother or father always reading it to me.  I would look so forward to it and I would sit just a still as a little mouse, anticipating this wonderful story.

There is the first page of my Christmas Book for 2011.

Also, I have totally completed my Christmas Book for 2012 yesterday.  Now, to complete this one too.  I plan to do this one totally as scrapbook pages, with minimal photographs.

freebie for today

I am resubmitting one of my Christmas freebies because I think it is so appropriate for Valentine's Day.  It is one of my favorites.

Here is a preview:

You can download it at:

I am also enclosing a couple of my other freebies from last year .... for the wonderful holiday of Mardi Gras.  As I am from Texas, I do miss not being part of the comraderie this year.  I just love all the parades, purple, green and gold beads and King's Cake.

Snowflakes

Just another layout page

Even though our snow is melting, this is a photograph of my husband that I took of him while he was shoveling the snow off of our deck.  It is his look that I wanted to capture.

Another scrapbook page I did this morning is
one for all the cornfield's of our nation
whether they are in Iowa or another state.

There is not much to this layout because
I just didn't think it needed more.

The saying is:

They say every snowflake is different.
If that were true, how could the world go on?
How could we get off our knees?
How could we ever recover the wonder of it?
                                                                Jeanette Winterson

I just love this.

In addition, I must apologize to one of the other bloggers for a scrapbook page I put on my site.  I am in the process of making a photobook using scrapbook pages and photographs from this past Christmas.  I did use her layout because I thought it was so cute.  She has requested that I take the layout off of my site, which I have done.  My error was putting it up here.  I did not mean to imply that I was taking credit for the layout, but I understand why she felt that way.   I just wanted to let everyone see my husband and myself in this adorable layout.  So, to Vanilla Designz I extend this heartfelt apology.  I am not a person that won't tell someone I am sorry, when it is needed.  I am truely sorry.  I honestly didn't mean to make this grave error.  I hope that you will accept this, as I really meant no harm.

Now, on to my daily freebie:

Everyone have a wonderful day.

Pancakes for the heart

REPOSTED FROM EARLIER THIS WEEK ... RECEIVED COMMENT THAT I'D FORGOTTEN THE LINK.  SORRY ABOUT THAT!!!  UPON RECEIVING THIS ONE ... PLEASE STOP BY THE POST FROM 2-1-13.  THIS ONE IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME IF YOU HAVE NOT GOTTEN THAT FREEBIE.

Now, I must ask you .... what is the way to your heart?  Is it a box of chocolates?  Is it a special candle-light dinner for two?  Is it holding hands?  Is it that look that just makes your heart go thump, thump?  Or is it pancakes?

Hummmmmmm
you say!!
Where is Sue going now?

And without delay .....
the last words are .....
"if you bring me pancakes instead of candy"

 You can download this at:

And, now without delay let me continue with my vacation trip:

Yesterday I ended the first chapter with our private concert ....

Now, I must tell you the only thing that my daughter, Angie kept saying from the moment we arrived and at least once an hour on the hour afterward was this STATEMENT.

"Mom, I want you to take a family professional photo"

If, I heard that statement once, I swear it came out of her mouth at least like a broken record and I knew that the next day was already planned as the family outing to take that perfect family framed 8x10 photograph for her mantel.

Little did I know what that was going to mean.  Did you know all photograph planning means you must go shopping for new clothes for the entire Sticker family?  I was up to that ... I like to shop!!!  So off the "girls" went.  Then I learned something new .... all outfits must be coordinated around what Mom (my daughter) wants to buy!!!!  Abby's white top was next, then the boys in blue and finally it's time to look for Dad.  Angie doesn't like anything and says he's got plenty of clothes at home .... poor, poor Reggie.  As for me, do you think I go shopping without buying something.  Ofcourse not, the new clothes were my treat.

Homeward bound .... showers to take, hair to fix and make-up to apply.

We are off on our next adventure of the day.

Now, I want you to look at these faces.  Why do you ask?  Don't they look like they are really into the idea of having to pose for pictures.  Their Mom has turned into a drill instructor!!!!  "Look at Nana", she keeps barking.  And, do they listen .... ofcourse not.  And then disaster hit ..... no sooner had Angie said "no one jump down because there's water below the bridge"  Miss Abby just jumps and her white silver shoes are stuck in mud!!!

Neither Mom or daughter are happy!!!

And, what happens next .....
is these three kids can't keep their eyes open!!!!
It was like you were saying to them "one, two, three ... close your eyes".
At least they smiled!!!  Please notice Abby is barefoot.

New approach
Papa decides to balance himself above the water on a rock, then leans down to get the perfect shoot and these three kids still can't open their eyes.
WITH THE SUN TO THEIR BACKS!!!!

All the while I keep thinking .... "John, don't fall in the creek!!!!"  Afterall, I have to think about my brand new camera that he's holding.  I THINK I'M IN LOVE WITH IT MORE THAN I AM WITH THAT HANDSOME MAN.

Now, it's time for me to show you why these kids can't open their eyes in photographs.
LOOK AT DAD!!!!
Is this in their genes or what???????

My daughter is getting so frustrated with her family because by this time I think I'd already taken fifty photographs and everyone keeps closing their eyes on me!!!!  Now, I find it absolutely comical because I know her way, way to well!!!  She is my "sunshine child" and there is no sunshine for her family.
Daggers are a better description

I suggest .... just the two of them.  The most beautiful couple in Katy, Texas.  And, there's a smile and open eyes!!!  Woo hoo!!!  Woo hoo!!!  Woo hoo!!!

Time to try for the kids again.

Finally .... isn't this a fantastic photograph?
"IT'S ALL GOOD"

At least for five minutes!!!!
Sean just can't be good for tooooo long ...
It would be out of character!!!!

 Miss Abby Apple

And finally .... my sweet, sweet Abby Apple. In her eyes I still can see that precious first-born grandchild I held. She is the light of my creativity. Everything about her is nurtured in the world of art. She can draw, she can write, she can paint and so much more. She has already developed all these talents way beyond her age. She is my inspiration now with each and everything I do myself.

Onward bound ....
this is called trying to get the perfect family portrait

Just look at my daughter's expression ....
and the boy's are trying to
RUN AWAY

Angie doesn't give up ....
It's instructions as to where to stand.
Ryan thinks "Mom ... give it a rest"
Abby thinks "can I be anywhere else then here?"
Sean thinks "this is sooo tiring"
and
Dad thinks "kids please cooperate with your mother"

and finally

Perfect family portraits
are created through many, many tries
and
than just for a moment the camera captures .......

JUST THAT ONE

Let me welcome you to the Sticker Family.
My beautiful daughter, Angela
her handsome husband, Reggie
their daughter, Abby
and sons Ryan and Sean

Aren't they just beautiful
and God blessed me with both.

How much I love this photograph of Angela with her daughter, Abby.  It is just speaks to my heart in volumes and volumes.  When I first saw it after downloading ..... all I could say was wow.

Now I want to include my favorites of my grandchildren.  There are many reasons why I love them, too.  Each time I look at them, I can remember their funny faces and the boy's nonstop silly ways.  They are loving brothers and a sister.

This is one of my favorite's.

And they continue .....

I just love the capturing of all their personalities.
Ryan- he's the silly one
Abby-she's the mischevious one
Sean-he's the clown

Oops, the closed eyes has returned
and
Ryan is frowning because
I said "smile".

There is is .... I know they wouldn't let me down!!!
now ....
ONE, TWO, THREE
CLOSE YOUR EYES.

No photo shoot is complete without a couple of those "I'm tired of all this" either.  So, I just had to include them as well.  Aren't kids just the greatest????  And, that is what keeps our photos what we all call FAMILY.  All the worts and all.

I just love this one of Sean faking "I'm hurt"!!!
It's called ....
let's see if I can get Abby in trouble ....

and, the three generations

No family gatherings are complete without the "Three Generation" photograph.  As you can see, my Miss Angie has my smile.  I even match the girl's, too.  Afterall, the ladies have to look good!!!!!  And, we do .... don't we?

I think the family "Sticker" session is finished.  Now, it is time for just us.  This is my life partner and I couldn't be happier.  He is my best friend and sometimes my worst enemy.  He's my shoulder I lean on and the one I want to hit at times.  He's quiet and only really is silly with me!!  He thinks he suppose to be "Dad" at all times.  But, our kids have found their way to get him not to be that "grumpy" old man they swear they grew up with.   But, out grandchildren know better

because he's Mr. Softy to them.

Yes, this day was a blessing.  It was full of much laughter, barefeet, silly faces, frowns and memories.
And with this I end my journal to you of my photo session afternoon with my family.  I do hope I have caused a couple of smiles along the way.  As for me, each and every single photograph represents a moment captured in time.  These are my memories.  And with that I close with just one more to say goodbye until tomorrow's Texas Journey continued .... just for you.

May you day be filled with the love of your family.
Hugs, Sue

Can't control who you love

It is time for me to think back of love and silliness.  It will help me to place my emotions in a much better place then yesterday.  I do want everyone to know that I am better.  I finally spoke to Barbara last night.  One of the hardest things for me, but it was so important for me to let her know I am there always day or night ... just a phone call away.

Last night I made a photobook that I have sent her of photographs that I have taken of Richard and her, as well as, others I was able to get off of facebook.  It is a personal journey of what both of them are and will always mean to me.  Hopefully in the moments of need, my photobook will bring her some comfort.

And now, on to happier thoughts.  As always, one of my favorite things to do is to add just the right touch of humor to some of my work.  That is how I decided to create this morning.  My thoughts were filled with how it seems opposites attract ... so my little gem is on that special couple.  Hope you like them.

You can download them at:

I want to extend a special thanks to
DarkuAngel of Deviant Art
for her element called "Wierd Love".
Her artwork is so inspirational and absolutely adorable.
You can find other examples of her work at

And .....
Is everyone ready to continue
on
My Texas Family Vacation???

One of the things that we always, always do when we go to Texas is let Angie and Reggie go out for a evening all to themselves.  It is just a way of letting them have some time with each other, as they do not have any grandparents that live near by now and ....

So we can have undivided time with just our grandchildren!!!!!

All day the kids had talked about where we were going to go eat and what we were going to do that night while Mom and Dad went out.  It was "hurry up and get out" by all grandparents and kids combined.

It's called
let's get it on Papa and Nana style
Woo hoo ... Mom and Dad are gone .... Mom and Dad are gone

Let's see who can get in the car faster  and a thirteen year old directly Papa driving.  She knows how to get to Double Daves Pizza Parlor.  Papa wants his GPS ... but decides he'll trust Miss Abby and give it a shot.  Afterall, we get lost .... that's what the GPS is for.  And, we arrive without one little mishap.  It's pizza, salad, games, coin machines and then going back for more for everyone.  It's being able to be as loud as we want!!!  It's being able to be just as silly as they want!!  And, it's Soda nonstop.  Finally we're all stuffed and head back to the house.

Now, the problem arrives .... Papa gets lost because it's dark outside!!!  Doesn't know Katy when the sun disappears.  Ryan says lets just go exploring .... we'll get home sooner or later.  Now, Nana loves, loves games ... even if Papa doesn't love Houston traffic!!!  We all vote and Papa loses.  He can't use his GPS.  It took us forty-five minutes to get back home (fifteen minutes drive) and my husband is not a happy camper.  But, he is a good sport because the only one he lets know he's mad at ... is me.

Yea!!!!  Here's the house .... now the real fun can begin.  It's Just Dance 4 time!!!!!

This is called the swim.

And, he does the point.
Didn't know the boys could do ballet ......

You're asking ...
Did I do it, really .....
I'll never tell ...

But, Ryan ....
LISTEN TO ME
You need to go this way!!!

or at least
STAY IN STEP

Now came the shocker for me
My sweetie-pie, Mr John
got up and danced, too
to my astonishment!!!

With him threatening every moment
DON'T YOU DARE TAKE MY PICTURE

and I got him more then once!!!!
Doing great, Papa

That man of mine is in the groove to
"Allie McBeal's theme song"

unfortunately I can't remember the name of the song.

I also danced with Abby, Ryan and Sean for the better part of three hours.  But, unfortunately I can't show a photo of me .... because I just plain forgot.  Maybe next time.  I think I lost 1000 calories that night because I have never had a workout like that one!!!!!

Mom and Dad evening was a complete success, too.  They went out to dinner just the two of them and then out bowling with friends of theirs.  Here is that handsome couple when they came home.

And, unfortunately or fortunately .... however you want to look at it ... that handsome hunk had "one beer" to many to attempt to "dance" after "bowling.  It ended up being just Papa, Angie, Nana, Abby, Ryan and Sean until the wee, wee hours of night!!!!  Laughter galore!!!!

Until tomorrow, enjoy your weekend.

Hugs, Sue
